The wave buoy has a NexSens X3-SUB submersible data logger and has been deployed since May 2026. Previous versions of the wave buoy have been active since 2022 at this location. Visible from the Lakefront trail and beach, the buoy is in ~8 feet of water and is equipment to measure physical water parameters. The buoy is operated and maintained by Chicago Park District.
