A two-point mooring system secures the buoy over sand and rock substrate in 20 m of water. https://seagull-erddap.glos.org/erddap/tabledap/obs_230 https://seagull-erddap.glos.org/erddap/tabledap/obs_230.graph Bark Point, WI Moored Buoy University of Minnesota-Duluth started deploying moored buoy BARK_PT in southwest Lake Superior near Bark Point, Wisconsin in April 2021. Bark Point is a region that has recently started to experience noticeable algae blooms and there was a desire to monitor the area for water quality. Waves, water temperatures at depth, water quality (including turbidity, dissolved oxygen, chl-a and BGA fluorescence), and basic meteorological data are also collected at this site. BARK_PT is in 50 meters of water. The buoy is removed each year during the winter months. The buoy consists of a yellow six foot diameter, dense foam float with a mast that extends approximately nine feet (~3 m) above the water surface. Temperature chains hang from the buoy extending from the surface to the lake bottom with temperature probes spaced at one meter (~3 ft) intervals. The buoy includes meteorological instruments to measure air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, and solar radiation. A water quality datasonde is deployed near the surface from the Oswego buoy. The data sonde measures water temperature, specific conductivity, turbidity and chlorophyll-a. The overwinter monitoring system consists of instrumentation (T-String, wave and water current meter) and data logger deployed on the bottom of Lake Ontario, approximately 1.75 miles off the shore of Oswego, NY in 22 m of water.  At the lake's surface, a cellular modem antenna is installed on a modified winter buoy (winter stick) to provide telemetry to shore. Known as Cleveland Water’s Crown buoy, it was established in June 2021 by Cleveland Water in partnership with Cleveland Water Alliance and LimnoTech. The buoy is designed to monitor physical and water quality parameters  as well as atmospheric conditions. It is deployed in ~37 meters of water. It consists of standard meteorological observations (wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, humidity, incoming solar radiation, air pressure) as well as water temperatures at various depths within the water column, an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler and 4 above-water cameras set up 90° apart from each other.
